CASology has selected a nice and easy cue for everyone this week!
Everyone has a stamp-set, NBUS or otherwise, that they can use for this challenge! And you will want to play because we have the wonderful Stamplorations sponsoring us!
I was inspired to go quasi-minimalist this week, particularly after I saw this amazing card of Virginia Lu’s.
My card is not true-minimalist. From what I can gather from its definition, Minimalism is about extreme simplification of form. I have certainly broken a few rules, but as a CAS-loving girl, with much to learn, I was inspired by the challenge of working out how much I could strip away from an image without its identity being lost. So, I came up with this ‘birthday cake’:
All my rectangles have been created using the backs of stamps. The patterns and sentiments have been heat-embossed in white. I used some pearly heat-embossing powder on the candle, and then hand-cut the flame in JAC paper, before covering it in gold glitter. It looks great in the light!
And that’s my foray into minimalism…(ahem)!
Thanks for visiting!

Awesome , clean, simple and totally brilliant. 🙂
Very clever. I definitely could tell exactly what it was, and I love that you used the backs of stamps. I often do that to fill in stamps when I am too lazy to color. Love your sentiments within the cake layers.
Love the use of simple shapes to create this really fun card!
