CASology #176: Tree

CASology time again!

We look forward to seeing lots of entries in the gallery with this cue:

It’s hot here at Christmas! Boogie boards, waves and sand-dunes replace sleighs and snow hills.

Here’s my impression of an Antipodean Christmas tree, using one of my favourite techniques – masking:

Do you like my ‘star’?:

Overlapping the blues enabled me to add texture and dimension to the ‘waves’ without adding paper layers.

Take a look at the beauties created by the rest of the Design Team.

  1. Oh wow, that is so trendy, Hazel! Love that brush stroke tree! So happy to see this CAS beauty in the STAMPlorations gallery. Hugs from wintry cold California :o)

  2. Oh, this is such a sweet card, Hazel! I love your star, and how you masked and overlapped your colors on your tree…so FUN!
Lucky you to have sunshine, boogie boards and the beach to celebrate Christmas…I’m so jealous!

  3. This is so clever and fun. I am still scratching my head wondering how you did it. Love the effect–like if a Christmas tree were made of waves and Santa came surfing by.

  4. Terrific card Hazel! I love the vibrancy of the blue and so cool that you created a tree from waves – awesome!

  5. Hazel, another very cool interpretation of the cue card! I think this is so cool…I love the differing shades of blue! I’m waiting to see Santa in his bathing suit walking by! 🙂

  6. This is super cute! I love the sketchy, artsy feel of that tree and it totally deserves to take center stage. Thank you so much for playing along with us at STAMPlorations!
