CASology #169: Zombie

It’s CASology time again, and here it is: the one you’ve all been waiting for…

I have an aversion to anything horror-related (except for Michael Jackson’s Thriller), so what do I do when confronted with something that makes me uncomfortable? Make light of it, of course (wink!):

Luminous green seems to be a colour associated with zombies, so I paired it with a black silhouette of a zombie hand reaching out of the ground. AAAARGGGHHHH!!

I found some zombie hand silhouettes on Google, and used one as a stencil to make my own. Fussy cutting fingers is tricky! The grass is a trimmed down version of Clearly Besotted’s Fresh Grass, and the bats are from Stampin’ Up’s Holiday Home.  The style of this sentiment from Serendipity Stamps seemed to fit the tone of the card perfectly.

Have a look at this week’s creepy cards from the Design Team. And while here, I just wanted to say another big farewell to our super teamie Gillian, who has her hands full right now with her gorgeous little bubba!

  1. OMG Hazel – this card is just too funny! I’m like you – hate scary things! What a fun clever card! Thanks for playing in the Serendipity Stamps Challenge this month!

  2. That’s funny, Hazel … I don’t have any trouble cutting my fingers – in the kitchen that is =] I think this is a perfect way to get over your fears … just absolutely darling!

  3. This is genius and I am totally impressed with your fussy cutting. 🙂 I’m a wimp about horror-related stuff too. Even Thriller scared me as a kid. I stupidly was convinced to watch Paranormal Activity last year. I still get scared if I think of it in the middle of the night. I’ve even woken up Luis to escort me to the loo! Ha ha! A few months ago I was telling my boss about it and she said, “Listen, you have a dog and dogs can sense spirits and ghosts and demons and stuff so as long as Atticus is cool then you know there’s nothing to worry about.” So what did I wake up to at 2am the next morning? Atticus sitting at the end of the bed, staring at the door and growling. It was not a good night…

  4. Hazel you are so creative to come up with this for zombie, I love it! Thanks for joining us at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog! Love seeing you use Serendipity Stamps !

  5. I think your card is just brilliant. It totally encapsulates the Halloween/Zombie theme and is so CAS! Great work. Thanks so much for playing along with our Halloween theme at The Male Room!

  6. Hello Hazel, I’m not to fond at all of ANYTHING horrific, not a fan of horror movies, I even hate the commercials about them. Your card is amazing though, it captures the horror of something coming out of the ground that should stay deep, deep underground, LOL!! Love the ghoulish green against the silhouette of that hand, sheeesh!! Just a fabulous and scary but fun card.
Thank you for sharing at CASology.
    Hugs,
    Maria Rodriguez.

  7. I think this was the hardest challenge ever. I’m going to be ready next year.. .I think I’m going to get the Sugar Pea Zombie set ! You did a great job improvising with your supplies! Your creativity is brilliant~!
