Hello!
I’m here with a sure-to-be popular CASology cue this week:
The first thought that popped into my head was the band Paul McCartney and Wings. Does anyone remember “Silly Love Songs” and “Band on the Run” from the 1970’s? I was only a young kid when these songs came out, but they have transcended the ages…
I digress, as this was not an angle from which I could derive a card, however, it did lead to thoughts of birds with impressive wing spans, doves, churches, stained glass windows, and to cut a long story short, here is the result:
This dove die has such intricate wings, so I was keen to make them the feature.
I die-cut the dove in a variety of coloured cardstock, and retained the one cut from brushed silver cardstock to be my main image. I then removed the intricate internal patterned silver wing pieces , and inlaid the coloured pieces in their place. This was fiddly, but worth the effort. I need to get some tweezers! I used some Micropor tape to hold all the bits in position, before raising the dove from the base card with some foam dots. The sentiment was heat embossed in silver, and three coloured rhinestones in ascending size order, were added to help balance the image.
And that is it!
Take a look at the rest of the Design Team’s gorgeous winged creations:

I love the stained glass dove on black it is very elegant. This die/stamp combo is one I have admired for some time and it is on my wish list.
Beautiful CAS card! Love the “stained-glass” dove against the black! So pretty!

This is such a striking and stunning card. Love how you pieced all the bits back into that die. Yikes–it must have taken forever without tweezers. Great tip about the micropore tape. I am going to remember that one, as I was wondering how you kept everything together as you were working. The black card front really reinforces the stained glass image to me.
I love this dove, too, Hazel, and really, REALLY love how you made it into a stained glass dove!! Using a black card base was inspired, too! I’m totally going to stea, er, CASE this beauty!! Hugs, Darnell
Hazel your card is gorgeous! You chose perfect colors for your stained glass look. That Dove is one of my favorite in the Serendipity Stamps die line. It makes it easy to create an elegant card! (unless you fill each spot with a different color – that’s not easy – just stunning!)
Hazel, your opening about the band “Wings” made me laugh! I had the same thoughts, isn’t that funny?! Then, like you, I realized there was no card to be made folliwing that line of thought. It did get a song stuck in my head, though! I adore your stained glass dove — especially gorgeous against black. Wow! So stunning!
Oh so fun to see you use the Serendipity Stamps dove die Hazel! This is beautiful and the peace is something we could all use. Love your card for the word: wing! Funny the first thought that popped into your head. Maybe the first thing for me too.
I almost bought that Serendipity die and now I’m kicking myself for not doing it. I love how you filled in the wings and I’m always a fan of gems under a sentiment! 🙂
Oh, this is stunning, Hazel! The dove is amazing on the dark background!
